Home N Sight

Opening in 1992, Windsor Place of Coffeyville was the start of our relationship with the residents of Kansas. With 147 available beds house-wide, we are able to service many populations including a specialty unit for Alzheimer's Care, a dedicated short-stay unit (Home N Sight), an in-house therapy program, and trained staff to provide skilled nursing services.

If you’ve had an illness, injury or surgery, the road to recovery can seem like a long and difficult journey. Maybe you’re concerned about having to leave the hospital before you are ready. We want you to know that you can spend your recuperation time – whether it’s a few days or a few weeks – with us in the “Home N Sight” program.

What Is The “Home N Sight” Program?
Windsor Place has always been dedicated to helping our residents get better so they can return to their homes whenever possible. In fact, nearly 50% of all admissions to Windsor Place, including residents considered to be long-term care patients, are discharged to their homes or other lessor care settings.

In an effort to expand and build on that performance, Windsor Place has developed a new program called “Home N Sight”. It combines 24-hour skilled nursing care with the necessary rehabilitation to help patients reach their highest level of functioning following illness, injury or surgery. The ultimate goal of the “Home N Sight” program is to prepare and return patients to their homes, assisted living centers or other less structured environments.

Our Dedicated “Home N Sight” Residence
What makes a short-term stay at Windsor Place so unique is the“Home N Sight” environment. A separate exterior, private entrance leads to a newly redesigned and renovated residence devoted exclusively to our short-term guests. Large,well-appointed guest rooms are predominantly private, while a comfortable common space fosters family involvement in the patient’s holistic recovery.
Other stand-out features include special attention to personal care services in the “Home N Sight” spa and “7 to 7 Dining”, our menu-driven meal program. Patients can make meal choices from a menu or a variety of daily specials anytime between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
We encourage patients to bring some of their belongings from home to make their stay more personal. Patients also benefit from socializing with others whose medical needs and rehabilitative goals are similar to their own.

Our Specially Trained Staff
Whether you’re recovering from illness, injury or surgery, our staff of specially trained professionals will see to your every health care need. We will also offer in the “Home N Sight” environment occupational, physical and speech therapy services by licensed therapists. Physical therapy reduces pain and increases strength. The goal of occupation therapy is to increase independence in activities of daily life such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, a favorite hobby or working at a job. Speech therapy not only addresses communication, but also swallowing and cognitive abilities. Therapists work together as a team, and many rehabilitation services overlap.
The “Home N Sight” therapy department features a fully-equipped kitchen and bathroom where patients can practice and regain their daily living skills before returning to their own homes. This also helps therapists identify what assistive devices might be necessary to ensure the safety of the patient at home.

What Exactly Does “Short-term Stay” Mean For You?
A short-term stay at Windsor Place is by no means the end of the road. In fact, it’s a good way to get started on the road to recovery. A short-term stay at Windsor Place is typically 14 to 100 days, depending on individual circumstances. Some people recover quickly, others require more time to recuperate. Be assured that we’ll never send you home before you and your family are absolutely ready, nor keep you a day longer than needed. Therapy services may continue following a short-term stay on an out-patient basis.

Certified By Medicare
Windsor Place is fully licensed by the State of Kansas and is Medicare-certified. What does this mean to you? If you’ve experienced at least a three-day hospital stay, Your Medicare insurance may pay for a short-term stay in our “Home N Sight” program. This means you’ll get extra recuperation time in a professional health care environment. Our admission staff is qualified to help you find out if you qualify for Medicare or other benefits.

Family Involvement
At Windsor Place, we realize the support of family members is one of the strongest keys to rehabilitation and recovery. We encourage family participation in all areas to the level most comfortable for you. We will meet with you and your family to discuss expectations, your individualized care plan and a time period for your recovery. We will also work with your family to prepare your home for your return and discuss what agencies, like a home care provider, could be of assistance in making your return home successful.

“Home N Sight” Benefits
As you can see, a short-term stay in the “Home N Sight” program at Windsor Place has a variety of benefits. You can get the help you need to get better, your family is relieved of the primary responsibility of your care, it’s a covered benefit of your Medicare insurance, and best of all, you can return to the comfort of your own home following your recovery.
